Introduction to the Sunrise Project:

What is the Sunrise Project?

The Sunrise Project is a plea and a plan for a new and sustainable civilisation and way of life. It is based on the desire to bring about a future that will:
  • Decrease disparity of wealth and quality of life of the World's people
  • Reduce War and enable us to co-exist peacefully as a species
  • Reduce the degradation of the environment, which is threatening quality of life
  • Reduce the overuse of natural resources which threatens future generations
  • Remove the rises and falls of quality of life resulting from our current economic system
  • Reduce dissatisfaction and disinterest with current political practices and restore true democracy

The Elements of Sustainability:

The objective of any society must be that it should be sustainable in the long term. For our civilisation to be truly sustainable, we must produce a holistic lifestyle, encompassing the four key elements of sustainability:

The Pillars of Sustainability - Economy, Politics, Society, Environment

It is not enough to address any of these issues alone- we must remedy the malaise of our society in all senses.

How we will Achieve this:

If we are to be successful in all these areas and create a sustainable civilisation then we must work to create a seismic change in the way we think and act. The Sunrise Project will bring this about by:
  • Raising awareness of some of the major issues associated with sustainability
  • Exemplifying the practical application of sustainability by providing a living, working sustainable community
  • Researching and developing sustainable solutions and technologies for the future by collaborating with our partners
  • Educating all age groups and developing sustainable thinking in the curriculum by working with and alongside national practice
  • Integrating the sustainable principals of the Sunrise Project into the wider community
  • Showcasing an alternative economic approach which will seek to reduce the problems of inequality in the Western World
