Current Work on the Sunrise Project:

Publicity and Membership:

The focus of work in 2007 is on publicity - this website for example. Running in parallel with this, we are developing the Sunrise membership as a way of promoting the Project's work and bringing together people interested in sustainable development. This will be used to promote the next developments.

Development of a Pilot Community:

The first practical step for the Project will be the development of a pilot site, which will then grow to become the first full SRP community. The pilot will be built in the Bath area and will significantly enhance the economy of the Avon area. It will have at its heart a new sustainable holiday centre, providing the first truly ecologically friendly accommodation for the UNESCO world heritage site of Bath. This will include a sales area and visitor facilities to promote the innovative and sustainable technologies as well as the traditional crafts involved in the site. The centre will also offer a range of courses for adults and children to raise awareness and use of sustainable techniques. Known as Sulis Eco-Holidays, this will be a joint venture between the Sunrise Project and the current owners of the site.

Future Growth:

As well as achieving its own aims within sustainability, Sulis Eco-Holidays will serve as a source of funding for the Sunrise Project. This will allow the Project to grow and fulfil its full potential in years to come. A new website will be launched shortly in order to provide more information about Sulis Eco-Holidays.
